I am about to write something that has never been written on the internet.
I kind of miss THE JAY LENO SHOW.
At 10 P.M., I am not one to watch some dark crime series that is on most networks. If I'm watching TV, I normally find myself flipping over to KING OF THE HILL on the Cartoon Network.
THE JAY LENO SHOW, while not great comedy, especially when compared to LETTERMAN or THE DAILY SHOW, was mildly diverting. As I said back when it was on, I watched it more often in the few months it was on than THE TONIGHT SHOW WITH JAY LENO in all of the years it aired.
Now that NBC has gone back to scripted programming, it turns out that the ratings in the 10 P.M. time slot are even worse than THE JAY LENO SHOW. Only two of the 10 P.M. series, PARENTHOOD and LAW AND ORDER LA were higher, but by .2 and .1 ratings points. Hardly a difference.
Just think, if they had stuck with Leno, they would have kept Conan. By now, the ratings for both may have increased.
Instead, they wound up with five expensive shows, one of which (OUTLAW) has pretty much been canceled, CHASE probably will be soon. I do think that PARENTHOOD is a very good show but it would work at an earlier time slot. And I've always been a fan of THE APPRENTICE so am unsure why it is doing so poorly as it has been quite good this season.

I think they should have never gave him that show, nor another chance to come back to Tonight Show - that was supposed to be Conan's.
I never missed The Jay Leno Show! I liked not having to stay up late to see a talk show like that. Now that it's gone I only watch Parenthood at 10. I still watch Chelsea Lately at 11, I usually flip around looking for something from 10 to 11 and end up watching an episode of 30 Rock, The Office of The Mighty Boosh on OnDemand till 11.
