Woody Allen on Woody Allen Movies

Woody Allen, in an interview with a UK newspaper via Cinematical, listed his favorite Woody Allen films.

The six films are:

PURPLE ROSE OF CAIRO

MATCH POINT

BULLETS OVER BROADWAY

ZELIG

HUSBANDS AND WIVES

VICKY CHRISTINA BARCELONA
I find that to be a fairly interesting list. Especially since none of those would make my top six.

If I were to name my top six Woody Allen films, they would be (in chronological order)
TAKE THE MONEY AND RUN

BANANAS

ANNIE HALL

ANOTHER WOMAN

CRIMES AND MISDEMEANORS
Actually, that is only five. I realized that some of the rest of his films I haven't seen in over 20 years, so I can't remember which I would pick (maybe BROADWAY DANNY ROSE?). It certainly wouldn't have been anything made in the past twenty years.

Purple Rose of Cairo or Zelig - somehow I didn't notice Zelig on the list when I read it before - would probably make my Top 6. Probably not both, but one or the other, depending on my mood.

Crimes and Misdemeanors is still definitely my favorite.

Kind og interesting - Allen's list is a mix of some of my favorites - Zelig might be my second favorite, after Sleeper, and Husbands and Wives is the best of his later ones, the only one I really like, to be honest - and some I really hated - VCB I loathed with great passion. If you made me do a top 6 - there are some I haven't seen in a long time, but....

Sleeper
Zelig
Bananas
Annie Hall
Husbands and Wives
Love and Death maybe?
