SPIN CITY: SEASON THREE (1998-1999) DVD Review

SPIN CITY was a very likable comedy, starring Michael J. Fox as the aide to the dimwitted mayor of New York (Barry Bostwick). The supporting cast included Michael Boatman, Alan Ruck (Cameron from FERRIS BUELLER), Jennifer Esposito and Connie Britton (now on FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS).

Running for six seasons, from 1996 to 2002, season three is now being released on DVD. This is the season that ran from 1998-1999.

Season three had some of the memorable episodes, including Heidi Klum appearing (as herself) as Michael J. Fox’s girlfriend.

It also featured one episode I somehow missed. The February 23, 1999 episode entitled BACK TO THE FUTURE IV: JUDGEMENT DAY. What is so special about this episode? Fox’s BACK TO THE FUTURE co-star Christopher Lloyd appears. The two have several jokes about that film (Fox states “Wow, it’s like I’ve gone back in time” when he first sees him).

WHAT IS ON THE DVD?

This is a 4 DVD set with all 26 episodes. There are six episodes on the first three DVDs and eight on the last.

There are no other extras.

SHOULD I BUY IT?

Fans of the series will be happy to see this set. Fox’s natural comic timing makes this still a lot of fun.

SPIN CITY SEASON THREE will be available on DVD November 3, 2009 from Shout! Factory.
