Like films and TV, the music video was an artform that was popular in the 1980’s. It is essentially extinct today, with music videos relegated to Youtube or iTunes.
Back then, MTV spent 24 hours a day playing them. “All day every day” as they used to proclaim.
While a few stars came from music videos (Courtney Cox in the “Dancing in the Dark” video is the best example, and Gina Gershon appeared in an early Cars video), the rest of the people in these videos were and still are anonymous. There is no IMDB.com to list the credits of music videos.
So, I got to thinking, what ever happened to these music video stars. Or, an even better question, just who were they?
I thought I would look back at some of the more memorable music videos
“Centerfold” by the J. Geils Band - I think it is safe to say this will always be my favorite music video. It was the first video I ever saw. And, as far as impact goes, I don’t think this will ever be duplicated. It was ALL that was talked about in 4th grade. The song was HUGE. So, who were all the anonymous girls dancing in the background? What are they doing today? One looks like Martha Quinn. It wasn’t. Another looks like Lucinda Dickey. I don’t think it is her. They are all part of music video history, but no one knows their name.
“Jenny 867-5309” by Tommy Tutone - Almost as important as “Centerfold” I spent hours watching MTV waiting for this video. What is Jenny doing today? Who was she? Do people get residuals for appearing in music videos?
“Legs” by ZZ TOP - The ZZ Top girls were always popular. Some people may prefer the video for “Gimme All Your Lovin” but the video for “Legs” was more popular. Before all the makeover TV shows, this can be seen as the original. Is the girl still with the guy? Did the makeover work?
“Boys of Summer” by Don Henley - The video for “Boys of Summer” was hugely popular. Beautifully photographed in black and white, it swept the MTV Video Awards (back when they mattered). A case could be made to list the volleyball guys in this, but what about the girl on the bed, watching TV? What is she doing today?
“Heaven” by Bryan Adams - With his album RECKLESS, Bryan Adams took the video format in a different direction. He made a series of videos all tied in together. They all featured the same girl, and his relationship with her. In “Summer of 69”, it covered their meeting at a drive-in. Then came “Heaven” where she sees him in concert, and wishes she was with him. The video ends with Bryan running after her, only to find the doors locked and it snowing outside. “Run to You” continued from their. Same girl in every video.
“Your Love” by The Outfield - I never really appreciated the band The Outfield back in the day. They were on the radio so much, I was kind of sick of them. Looking back, they were on the radio so much because they were actually pretty good. The video for “Your Love” had the band performing while a girl (who looks like E.G. Daily, but isn’t) painted in the audience. The shot I absolutely loved in the video was the end, as she leaves the hall and walks down the street. As she rounds a corner, the setting sun gives a shadow to her.
“Walk on Water” by Eddie Money - This was one in a series of people looking at the camera and yelling videos, but the one thing about it that always got to me is “Who is that girl?” She looks very familiar, like a model, like Paulina Portizkova, but she isn’t.
“My Heart Can't Tell You No” by Rod Stewart - Like Bryan Adams, Rod Stewart had a series of videos telling a continual story. This time, his jealousy of woman in a club where he is a bartender. Same actress in both videos.
“Should’ve Known Better” by Richard Marx - Marx I guess can be thought of as the John Mayer of the 1980’s, only with better music. Every girl was in love with him, even with the mullet. The girl in this video I always thought looked familiar. At one point I thought it was Sheryl Lee of TWIN PEAKS. It wasn’t.
“Free Fallin” by Tom Petty - Petty really came of age in the MTV era. I could have also included “Alice” from “Don’t Come Around Here No More” but “Free Fallin” I thought was a better video. Following a girl in three eras.

Great memories. In the "Centerfold" video I always laughed when they showed the girls playing patty-cake.
I always thought "Jenny" looked a lot like Elizabeth Montgomery.
The girl from the A-Ha video "Take On Me" is named Bunty Bailey and I believe she is a dance instructor in England.
Susan Gallagher is the name of the girl from the Cars video "You Might Think" and I believe she teaches acting at one of the university of Florida school.
I would love to know whatever happened to the girl from "Sister Christian"?
I want to watch every single one of those videos right now. The girls that I remember most are the ones in "My Heart Can't Tell You No" and the Bryan Adams girl. They were lovely.
Music videos used to be so friggn' awesome!
If it hasn't been mentioned.....
Many people thought (or there was a rumor) that one of the girls in the video was MTV VJ Martha Quinn. If you notice, throughout the video, there is a bobbed-haired girl that did look a lot like her, but Martha confirmed it wasn't her.
The girl in the Bryan Adams is english actress Lysette Anthony.
Lysette Anthony is the girl in the Heaven and other Bryan Adams video "tie-ins" stated above, but Who is the girl in the Bryan Adams video "Cuts like a knife".
I have heard the name Amparo Molina, if my memory serves me from a past text comment below the video on a youtube posting.
Can anyone help with this?
The 80's videos rocked, and I still love the songs from the era today!! Thanks! great site!!
Thank you both. It is Lysette Anthony, the star of KRULL, in the Bryan Adams.
ZZTOP girls

I have been trying to find out the names of the girls in the video for Great White's "Once Bitten, Twice Shy." Any help would be appreciated.
Lou Gramm and Foreigner had some hotties in their videos, in particular for the single "Just Between You and Me," "Say You Will, Say You Won't," and "Until the End of Time."
And finally, Eddie Money's video for "Walk on Water" has a girl in it who *ahem* stirs my emotions.
Anyone know anything about these girls?
One of the girls in the J.Geils "Centerfold" video is Kristen Riter (a brunette) she is also the lead actress in the 1981 horror/spoof "Student Bodies." I read a little info about her on a horror site a few yrs ago, and she's in the music biz now (maybe a producer in Europe) She said acting gigs weren't enough to pay the bills.
Hello! Does anybody knows who's the brown hair model(there are two) in the video "My Paradise" from The Outfield? Thank you very much!
Great song (I just listened to it 20 minutes ago!) and great video. But, I don't know who it is.
I would like to know who the girl is that is in the Bryan Adams video "cuts like a knife".
She jumps into the empty pool, and comes back out all wet.
She looks Spanish, or South American, not English like Lysette Anthony?
Thanks!
Re: Walk on Water girl
I believe she may be in another of Eddie Money's videos, but I forget the name of it. Also I am pretty sure the very same girl is in the Richard Marx video for "Endless Summer Nights". (Please check me on that.) No idea who she is though . . .
According to Wikipedia, the girl in the Bryan Adams "Summer of 69", "Heaven" and "Run to You" videos is the actress Lysette Anthony.
The girl in the Tom Petty "Free Falling" video was murdered by her boyfriend, a skateboarder who had endorsement deals etc. and was well known to the skater crowd. He is one of the skateboarders in the video.
One of the girls in the Once Bitten, Twice Shy video is Bobbie Brown, better known as the unforgettable blonde bombshell in Warrant's "Cherry Pie" video. She is well known to fans of the hair metal genre, having been married to Warrant frontman Jani Lane and having a child with him before getting divorced.
the martha quinn girl in the centerfold vid's first name is colleen. She was dating and may have been married to Eliot Easton from the cars... she played in a local boston band called the bristols for a short time... drums.
The girl from Don Henley's "Boys of Summer" video is former actress Audie England. She's currently a professional photographer.
Her profile on IMDb.com (Internet Movie Database) can be found here: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0257414/
does anyone know who's the girl with michal j fox, in the pepsi video where they are at opera??
she seem sooo familer but can't seem to place here.
yurintroubl, you said:

I don't think that's possible since she was born in 1972- the girl in that video looks much older than 12 since it was from 1984. You sure that's right?
Btw this is an outstanding post, so true about how videos were so popular (as opposed to irrelevant now) and how there's no IMDB for the people in those videos.
I used to hear a song and think of the video. Not anymore- the song is now independent from any visual association. I wonder if that'll ever revert...
Maybe that's why some of these videos aren't available on iTunes...do they have to get ahold of the cast for written permission or something? Just wondering.
WHO is the MODEL in "My Heart Can't Tell You No" by Rod... She has such a classic late 80s look...
Who is she???
ALSO remember the hottie italian guy she would tease him with... Who is that hunk?
The the blonde girl in Tom Petty's Free Falling video was Not murdered by her boyfriend. Her name is Devon Jenkin. One of the girls in the video, Brandi McClain, can be seen sitting on the skate ramp, Was the girlfriend of famed skateboarder Mark 'Gator' Anthony who later raped and murdered her best friend Jessica Bergsten
good posting^^
My all - time favorite videos on MTV featured either Todd Rundgren or the band that he was a member of, Utopia. "Time Heals", "Hide-
away", "Hammer In My Heart", "Feet Don't Fail Me Now", etc. Todd was just beginning to get into some pretty wild visual art at the time that those videos were first shown on MTV. The Utopia video "Crybaby" featured John "Willie" Wilcox's infamous drum set that was made from motorcycle parts and placed on a spinning riser - truly WILD stuff!
Speaking of "Whatever Happened To 1980's Music Video Stars", whatever happened to the original MTV "vee - jays" (Allen Hunter, Martha Quinn, Nina Hartley, etc.)?...
One more thing: Those models in the Robert Palmer videos "Addicted To Love" and "I Didn't Mean To Turn You On" made for a rather provocative "backup band", did they not?... Yummy!
who is the girl in The Outfield's "Your Love" video?
Hey, I can't find any way to confirm this, but the girl in Eddie Money's Walk on Water video looks a lot like Erika Anderson (Nightmare on Elm Street 5, Zandalee)
can anyone tell me the name of the girl in Richard Marx's "Should've Known Better" video? She is the spitting image of a girl I dated in high school. Thanks for any help!
What happened to those models who were in Duran Duran videos like "Rio" and "Hungry Like the Wolf"? If these videos were made today the info would be all over IMDB and Google.
And while I'm at it, what happened to Gabriele Bennett from Kidd Video? It seems to be the only thing she did and then she vanished!
wow great info.. and what about "This old heart of mine" by Rod Stewart.Ok, there is no plot in the video, but the go go girls are amazing!
