Much like YOU CAN'T DO THAT ON TELEVISION (and also featuring YCDTOT's Christine McGlade) was another Canadian import airing on Nickelodeon called TURKEY TELEVISION.
The show was actually co-produced by McGlade, and featured short cartoons, music videos, and other strange bits. I remember seeing French music videos. I think this is where I first saw the Barnes and Barnes video for "Fishheads"
The show didn't last long, and my memory of it is very hazy beyond the above description. But I remember watching it quite often.

Just wanted to leave a note saying I remember this show, and that on Thanksgiving Nickelodeon used to air marathons of this program
It also had some stand-up comedy bits in it...including a pre-SNL Dana Carvey musing on what Paul McCartney maxing out his credit card by buying an island.
It wasn't really so much a Canadian show, but more Nickelodeon putting together a kind of stock footage/montage program featuring clips from different sources which didn't relate to anything or everything. You get stuff like foreign commecials, silent comedies with Chaplin, Lloyd or Keaton, segments from Sid Caesar's "Your Show of Shows", music videos like the familiar Ghostbusters theme and so-on. I think one of the best things I remember from it was seeing clips from a 1980 short film "Closet Cases of the Nerd Kind", and finally being impressed to see the entire film later on from a film print I borrowed at the library.
It didn't quite make a splash, but it was one of several breakthrough programs after Nick's revamped programming and image in 1984. I compare this program to a later one that was aired on Comedy Channel/Central called "Short Attention Span Theater", which was also pretty much a dumping ground for comedy bits from TV shows, movies and stand-up routines.
