Most of the readers of this blog are from outside of the Western Mass / CT area. So, I thought I would enlighten everyone of one of the great things about local TV here.
The commercials for Good Ole Tom's.
Good Ole Tom's is a pawnshop in East Hartford Connecticut. They must be successful as the ads are shown on an hourly basis, on both CT and MA channels. On cable and local channels, he is everywhere.
In fact, after a Patriots victory a few weeks back, the cover of the newspaper had a big photo of Tom Brady with the headline "Good Ole Tom".
The commercials seem to have been shot on a home video camera in the 1980's, yet are airing in 2008.
Like this one:
Soft focus, Casio music, AND a cheap video camera? How can you not love that?
Or this one:
Great stuff.
Sadly, today a saw a new ad. A more professionally done one with just Tom talking. Does this mean the 80's are officially over?
Oh well, at least we have YouTube.
But for local ads, (posting this for the 3rd time) this is still the best.

$700 for broken jewelry? Seems Tom is a philanthropist.
I always wondered what happened to the dude from Cameo.
