1987 was a great year for movies. Especially if you were a teenager, as I was. There was ADVENTURES IN BABYSITTING, CAN'T BUY ME LOVE, and, a film that people of all ages could love, THE PRINCESS BRIDE.
Like the other two films, I just loved BRIDE. It is one of those perfect fantasy films. It works as an adventure story, a love story, and it is extremely funny as well. And Mark Knopfler's score is one of my favorites.
Admit it, 20 years later, you are still quoting "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die"
To celebrate the anniversary, MGM is releasing a special anniversary edition on DVD on November 13th.
They are also holding a "Make Your Own Video" contest. You can find all the details here. The winning entry wins a 42 inch plasma DVD, as well as a DVD and a script autographed by director Rob Reiner and Norman Lear. The runner up receives a portable DVD player as well as the DVD and script.
Looks to be a lot of fun.
